Santorum attacks the President’s ‘snobbery’

Santorum attacks the Presidents snobbery

In a speech given recently on the campaign trail, Rick Santorum scoffed at President Obama’s hopes to have the entirety of the nation’s youth enroll in some form of higher education. “What a snob,” cried Santorum, much to the glee of his supporters (and opponents alike, but for different reasons).

Rick Santorum is right, the American people should give up aspiring, and being snobs, the President included. I mean really, wanting everyone to go to college? Blasphemy!

Santorum went on to speak against higher learning regarding a statistic about 62% of college graduates entering school religious and leaving atheist. I understand his conservative religious beliefs, but I reject the application of loss of religious beliefs to “liberal indoctrination” he claims the evil President has in the works.

Yes, people, I said indoctrination. Not only, does President Obama want you to pursue a higher education, he wants to make you “in his own image!” Let Santorum save you from the unholy transformation from moral, pious citizen into educated, snobby, Obama clone. Your very  parents could be… college educated! The horror!

You see, Santorum thinks that college is a breeding ground for dangerous leftist ideology which corrupt our youth. President Obama simply wants to execute some sinister plans to expose the happy ignorant to evil, dirty knowledge.

It thoroughly alarms me, as a high school student bound for college, that a very real candidate for the presidency has such radical views on students pursuing better lives for themselves. Seriously, the majority of high school students seek some form of higher education if at all possible upon finishing the 12th grade, and that same amount join Santorum’s ‘snob club.’  This man–this PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE– would have us wallow in ignorance while he leads us blindly to and fro.

Since America entered the world stage as a major power we have been engaged in a race, a race to be the best academically and technologically. To diminish the importance of college and higher education is to take away our edge and claim defeat. Meanwhile, countries such as China, Finland, and South Korea will continue to provide better for themselves and ultimately for the world. If anyone should be concerned with our future as a nation it should be the men in office, such as Santorum, especially if they’re shooting for the oval office.

Over the years–the decades– America has been seen as a magical ‘land of opportunity.’ This perceived opportunity largely sits with our ability to become more intelligent, if possible; to pursue more for ourselves. However, Rick Santorum would have us believe the notion that college breeds Satan spawn. He should know. He went there and received not one, but three degrees.

Well said Mr. Spanier. There’s a reason why you’re the teacher 🙂
In my opinion, he simply fires from the hip and hopes for the best. But he’s gone now. Goodbye and GOOD RIDDANCE

Nicely done, Shon. I appreciate your use of sarcasm. It is important to remember, from a candidate’s perspective, that it is alway easier to lead those who do not think for themselves. I am certain someone will disagree with me–and agree whole-heartedly with Mr. Santorum. I am equally certain that their views will have come from someone else. College doesn’t train us like monkeys to follow, blindly, liberal rhetoric or snobbish, socialist ideals. It teaches us to think, work hard, decipher quality information from, uh, not quality information. In Santorum’s case, I think at least one of his degrees taught him to pander to the audience with platitudes while mongoring a little hate on the side.
