News editor this year, Julie is especially excited for her second year in journalism.  Other than writing, she participates in various clubs such as Interact and Academic League.  Hobby-wise, Julie loves baking, playing tennis and eating chocolate!

Mary Beth Tinker, champion of the freedom of speech visits Carlsbad High on a nation wide tour to promote awareness of student press law for high schoolers across the country. At only age seventeen, Tinker won a supreme court case when her school district in Des Moines tried to ban her from wearing black "peace" bands surrounding the war in Vietnam.

Despite some technical difficulties with its robot, Team Buffalo Wings was still able to capture the Connect Reward and come in third in the Inspirer Award category at the First Tech Challenge on Feb. 9. The team has worked to fix their robot after a fall from a table damaged the machine.
