Now that prom at Carlsbad High School is over, many students are looking back on the promposals that made this year’s prom season exciting and memorable before the dance even started.
Making sure that it’s a surprise and meaningful is a big part of the tradition, junior Elle Robinson talks about how her first promposal was a birthday surprise after dinner with her boyfriend.
¨I thought we were just going out for my birthday, so I wasn’t expecting a promposal at all.¨ Robinson said.
Robinson talks about how the promposal included candles spelling out prom. She said what stood out the most was the effort behind it.
¨It was special that he took the time to set everything up and make it creative,¨ Robinson said.
Promposals have become a big part of prom season for many students, whether they are elaborate or simple. Sophomore Ginevera McClive talks about how she likes when promposals feel more personal instead of overly planned.
¨ï think its cuter when it actually feels like something they would do for you it doesn’t have to be super big or anything.¨ says McClive
McClive said she enjoyed seeing the different ideas students came up with around campus and online.
¨all of the signs were really creative and it was fun to see what everyone came up with.¨ McClive said.
There are so many ways to do a promposal and everyone has their own ideas on how to make it perfect. Different people have different interests so finding the best way to do it can depend on the person
Robinson says, ¨putting the effort in and finding a way to tailor it to them and what they like makes a good promposal.¨
Besides the promposals, students also enjoyed getting ready for prom itself Robinson said her favorite part of prom season was preparing for the dance.
¨Getting my nails done, finding my dress, and getting ready with my friends was probably my favorite part.¨ Robinson said.
The excitement around campus made prom season more fun overall. Students talked about dresses, pictures, dinner, and other aspects of the dance throughout the week making prom season more exciting.
¨ Everyone was talking about prom all week, so it just made everything more exciting,” McClive said.
Prom is not just about the dance students get together with their friends and plan dinners and get ready together making the experience more memorable.
¨It was fun seeing everyone dressed up and taking pictures with their friends,¨ Robinson says.
