NeeDohs are becoming a popular stress tool for students at school. These squared squishies help students deal with anxiety and stay focused in class. Many students use them during the day to feel calmer and get through tough moments.
Many students first discovered NeeDohs through classmates who have them at school. These encounters often bring curiosity to students making them interested in buying their own.
“The first time I saw a NeeDoh was when I was in class, and a girl pulled out a cube-looking squishy and it looked really interesting,” freshman Paula Bahamonde said. “I kind of just asked her if I could use it and I took it in my own hands and I fell in love with it.”
Other students are now going to influence their friends to start buying their own NeeDohs and use them more regularly they notice when they need them the most. These moments happen during times when it becomes difficult to keep attention in class.
“During a school day I usually find myself reaching for my NeeDoh the most when I’m stressing in class or I’m trying to do a hard task and I can’t focus,” Bahamonde said.
Social media continues to influence the learning environment in classrooms by creating different trends and what can be helpful for students while in a classroom setting. Social media has promoted NeeDohs as a tool for fidgeting during stressful times like class.
“I think NeeDohs have become popular with students at school because it was a trend on social media and it helps a lot of people fidget with something else other than their hands,” freshman Mia Iribarren said.
Students tend to use NeeDohs during certain parts of the day when stress levels are the highest like during tests, quizzes or long packets of homework. During these moments, the squishies help them stay concentrated.
“The top moments I use my NeeDoh during school are when I’m the most stressed, so mostly in my hard classes or when we’re not doing anything and it helps me stay calm and focused” Iribarren said.
As the pressure of grades are becoming more prevalent, students are finding different ways to stay focused, especially during the school day.
“Using a NeeDoh makes me feel more relaxed and it kind of just makes me feel calmer if I’m ever in class doing a test,” Bahamonde said.
Before many students discovered fidgets like NeeDohs, staying focused and managing anxiety during class came as a challenge. As more students began using these to cope, they noticed a difference in their ability to stay calm.
“NeeDohs are super nice for helping me calm down, lock in, and keep focus while in class. Overall, I just really like to fiddle with it because I get really stressed,” freshman Samantha Kellas said.
