CHS Junior, Shea Gibaldi is a current varsity football player and is excited for his upcoming senior football season. Before Gibaldi continues his high school career, he dedicates his time to training tirelessly to improve his game for next season.
Gibaldi has been trying to improve every year but this year things have changed. Shea wants to make a statement and help bring Carlsbad to a new level next year.
“Over the offseason I’ve been working on my get offs, my lifts, just being dominant on the field,” Gibaldi said. “Being dominant in the weight room this summer will be huge too, just working out and bettering myself.”
Football is a sport of strength, integrity, and commitment, but film is a must for football. All football athletes including Gibaldi, watch film to better their IQ of the game and prepare for certain players they will match up against in their next game.
“I watch about 2.5 hours of film each week, making sure I’m locked in,” Gibaldi said. “It’s always good to understand what your main match up is going to be for the next game.”
Every football player must have a good routine during the offseason so that they can stay in peak football shape. Gibaldi makes sure that he is locked in during the offseason with a consistent daily routine.
“As soon as I wake up I’m going to go downstairs to eat breakfast, then shortly after I go lift at the gym for an hour,” Gibaldi said. “I then come home and get my protein in, creatine in, then I hit the field, go do some field work, work on my basic skills, etc.”
For Gibaldi’s senior season, he plans to make a huge leap and take his game to the next level. His main objective is to contribute more consistently to the team’s overall success.
“Some goals I have for this upcoming season are to hopefully hit 275lbs on bench, and just to overall start the season dominant and be stronger in the weight room,” Gibaldi said. “We need to start the season on the right foot in order to be successful.”
