Junior Vivienne Adams has officially committed to the University of New Hampshire, choosing to continue her lacrosse career at the Division one level. Her decision finalizes her recruiting journey and demonstrates that she is ready for the next level at college.
Throughout high school, many students explore new sports to challenge themselves. For Adams, switching from soccer to lacrosse opened a new opportunity for a love of a new sport.
“I first started playing lacrosse at the end of seventh grade. I had just finished playing soccer, and I wanted to try something new, so I picked up my stick and didn’t put it down,” Adams said. “I really just loved it.”
During the summer, Adams spent a lot of time training and getting ready for her new beginning at college. Almost all of her hard work has finally paid off, and now she gets to take on an exciting new chapter.
“The moment I officially committed, I felt so much relief because I was putting in so much work this summer, and honestly, I was so happy and kind of proud of myself,” Adams said.
During her journey, she had encountered many obstacles that made her doubt her value of being a good player. These moments of doubt have only brought her to keep going and succeed.
“I have doubted myself many times,” Adams said. “I’d have had games where I didn’t play well, and there were coaches on the sidelines, so I thought, because I had one bad game, that would stop me from going to college.”
Family is important to have in pushing each other to reach their goals and to also succeed. For her, their support inspires her to be the best she can be on and off the field.
“I think my family definitely motivates me the most,” Adams said. “Knowing that they’re spending all this time and money on me, and if I work hard enough, I can make them proud.”
When working towards life goals, it’s important to stay dedicated. Seeking help from others can really make a difference in the work in the field.
“I think definitely just putting in the work, no matter what, hard work will get you anywhere,” Adams said. “If you don’t do anything, you’re not going to get anywhere. I would advise looking to your coaches and other mentors for advice because you cannot get through it alone.”
