From August to December, the Virtual Enterprise class is hard at work developing ideas for what businesses to create. Each student proposes their own idea to the class, with only one winner. One student in particular, Junior Jackson Luria, proposed an app that could track your exercise with the help of AI, winning the class over.
His business passed each qualifying test, showing its profitability and potential to be a well-functioning corporation. Now counting down to the next competition, April 8, CHS will be in the final round in New York City.
“In December, we went to SDSU, presented twice there, then moved on to the qualifiers in Bakersfield,” Luria said. “Once we qualified in Bakersfield, we were selected to go to New York.”
Luria’s resourcefulness has helped his company to exceed the competition. By implementing AI, the app introduces a new and exciting way to check your diet and workout plan with just the click of a button.
“It’s an AI-powered app called Strive,” Luria said. “It helps people determine their nutrition and fitness goals.”
As fitness is such an important part of everyday life for many individuals, how this app functions will determine its success. Luria’s goal is to maximize the health of users.
“Say you wanted to gain 10 pounds of muscle, Strive would tell you what workout regimen to do and what meals to plan,” Luria said. ¨Strive helps set realistic standards for people who want to become in shape.”
While the competition is fierce with hundreds of teams competing, it is key to understand what separates a good CEO from a great one. Luria says that keeping a disciplined mindset is vital.
“My advice for a successful business life is finding a good problem and a good solution to the problem,” Luria said. “Also addressing that solution in a very clear manner.”
Climbing down the business ladder to be eligible for the Virtual Enterprise Class, students must first take an introductory class to business. The class focuses on public speaking and teaches students how to use certain websites, such as Excel. Junior Gabriel Ayala is currently taking the class and looks forward to expanding his business skills.
“I’m pretty excited to take Virtual Enterprise,” Ayala said. “I’m gonna find out what it takes to be successful.”
As the team continues to work tirelessly, one thing is for sure, the Carlsbad Marketing team has made great strides and has a bright future. Luria’s success is a reminder on how hard work can lead to success.
“Overall I am very pleased with how far we have came,” Luria said. “Hopefully this will inspire the next group of Virtual Enterprise students.
