The 2026 MET Gala was held on May 4, the first Monday of the month. It was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The MET Gala is an annual fundraiser that is an invite only event to mark the opening of the spring fashion exhibit. Although it is a fundraiser, the MET Gala is better known as “Fashion’s biggest night.” This is due to the celebrities invited going all-out for the dress code themes. This year was no different. All attendees went all-out for this year’s Costume Art and Fashion is Art theme.
Emma Chamberlain was dressed by Mugler. The gown was hand painted by Anna Deller-Yee, and was based off of famous painters such as Vincent van Gogh. This dress also took inspiration from the 1997 Mugler butterfly dress.
Sunday Rose Kidman Urban was in a custom dress from Dior. Her designer, Jonathan Anderson, took inspiration from the concept, “Blooming.”
Naomi Osaka was in a dress designed by Robert Wun. They went off the theme of human anatomy and shedding of skin.
Eileen Gu was styled by Iris van Herpen who collaborated with A.A Murakami. The duo’s design was based on the theory of early life coming from bubbles symbolizing air and atomic anatomy.
5.Anok Yai
Anok Yai was wearing Balenciaga styled by Pierpaolo Piccioli. Her gown was based off of Our Ladies of Sorrows as well as the black Madonna with an intention to embody a living statue
6.Sombr
Sombr wore Valentino designed by Alessandro Michele. This look was meant to embody the aesthetic of glam rock.
Chase Infiniti was dressed in a custom Thom Browne gown. The dress was based off of the iconic Venus de Milo statue in the Louvre.
Hedi Klum was dressed by Mike Marino. The look was based off of the Veiled Vestal as well as the Veiled Lady statues by Raffaele Monti.
Hunter Schafer was wearing custom Prada based on the 1912 painting Mäda Primavesi by Gustav Klimt.
Serena Williams wore a custom Marc Jacobs gown meant to have her embody a living statue.
Sabrina Carpenter was dressed in Dior by Jonathan Anderson. Her gown was a tribute to Old Hollywood and the movies it produced, specifically the movie “Sabrina”.
12.SZA
SZA was dressed by Bode designed by Emily Adams Bode Aujla. The gown had a sustainable;ity approach getting vintage fabric and supplies from eBay and vintage dealers. The gown itself was based on the pre-war Viennese collective.
Janelle Monáe was styled by Christian Siriano. Her look was based on a fusion of nature and technology and served as a post-apocalyptic sculpture.
Hudson Williams wore a Balenciaga suit designed by Pierpaolo Piccioli. The suit was based off of Balenciaga’s Spanish heritage. While the makeup and train were dramatic nods to Black Swan.
15.Madonna
Madonna was in Saint Laurent designed by Anthony Vaccarello. The gown was based on The Temptation of St. Anthony, Fragment II a painting by Leonora Carrington.
