With homecoming only one week away, many wonder what tricks ASB has up its sleeves to supersede last football season’s impressive performances. A vital aspect of the homecoming half time show has always been Carlsbad’s award winning dance program, and this year will be no different.
Like all football games, our own Lancer Dancer and Xcalibur teams will be pumping up the crowd with their enthusiasm, and showing off their nationally-ranked dance technique. In this game, to spice up the halftime show in honor of homecoming, LD and X will be dancing alongside the rest of the dance department. This gives all the dancers of Carlsbad High a chance to flaunt their newly learned dance moves, and perform in front of the whole school for the first time this year.
“It’s a lot of fun dancing with everyone even though we don’t all know each other,” sophomore Lancer Dancer Ashley Welzel said.
Inspired by this year’s homecoming theme, all dancers will be dressed up as super heroes with props such as capes and poms to.
“It’ll be a really fun performance. I think this is our best theme: I love it! I know everyone will really enjoy it,” Welzel said.
Hopefully, their costumes and school spirit will boost up the crowd and Lancer pride enough to win us this game against our cross-town rival, Oceanside.
“Like usual, LD will be performing during other parts of the game just to keep the crowd pumped up and excited,” Lancer Dancer Christina Pecore said.
In case you didn’t get enough of the Lancer Dancers, they will return without their partners-in-crime during the 3rd and 4th quarters to continue saving the day against the villainous Oceanside pirates.
