BRIEF: Prom

Mackinley Sebahar, Sports editor

This Saturday, May 21 from 7:30 to 11 p.m., Carlsbad students have the opportunity to go wild at this year’s prom. The theme is “Where the Wild Things Are” and takes place at the Natural History Museum in Balboa Park.

“Prom being at the Natural History Museum is going to be really awesome because most of the exhibits will be open so there is a ton to do,” senior and ASB’s head dance chair Natalie Hendricks said. “There will be a live singer up on the rooftop which has a super cool view. There will also be a dessert bar, and a DJ and a dance floor down in the venue as well. We also have caricature artists and photo booths. There’s a lot to do which I’m really looking forward to.”

The venue has given ASB the opportunity to make many new additions at prom.

“There’s going to be a lot of exciting things happening this year that haven’t happened in the past,” junior ASB member Megan Mullen said.

Although it will be a night to remember, safety always comes first. The venue has rules to ensure that students are completely protected from dancing-related injuries (i.e. stepping on feet).

“Girls must wear shoes because it is the venue’s policy,” Hendricks said. “PTSA is selling flats for $10 but you can wear whatever shoes you bring. You also have to bring your ID card to be admitted into the venue.”

Dance contracts must be filled out and turned in when purchasing a ticket and can be found here. Prom guest dance agreements must be turned in by Wednesday, May 18 and can be found here.
