The Fashion Club is a place where students can show their style, and connect with others who are interested in fashion. The president, Ginevra McClive, plays a big role in organizing meetings and helping the club grow. Her leadership plays an important role in keeping the club active and welcoming for everyone.
Lancer Link: What inspired you to run for president of the fashion club?
Ginevra McClive: I love seeing people come together and share their inspiration and ideas.
LL: What is your vision for the fashion club this year, and how do you hope to impact the school community?
GM: I’m hoping to increase the number of people coming to fashion club so it’s a larger community, so we have more ideas
LL: How do you ensure that the club is inclusive?
GM: We allow ideas and inspiration from all people, and we include everyone, making sure everyone is aware of fashion club.
LL: What has been your favourite project or event in the club that you’ve worked on so far?
GM: Currently, we are working on painting tote bags and hem and boarding them.
LL: What goes on behind the scenes that people might not realize?
GM: We send out emails, and we meet together so we can plan what we’re going to be doing for each meeting, and then we go around the school asking people to come.
LL: What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about stepping into a leadership role?
GM: Just be yourself, nobody wants to see anyone but the real you.
LL: What skills have you developed through this experience that you think will help you in the future?
GM: I’ve developed a lot of leadership skills and I have learned how to cooperate with others.
LL: How do you build a sense of community within the fashion club, especially for new members?
GM: [In our club,] all members are able to come together and share their ideas despite their differences.
LL: Who or what has been your biggest influence in developing your interest in fashion?
GM: My mom, because she guides me through my fashion career and helps me with everything she can.
