Taylor Swift “Red” songs decoded

Taylor Swift’s most recent album, “Red,” has received tremendous success. Considering it’s been over two months since the album’s release, it’s safe to assume that all the “Swifties” have already attempted to uncover the ex-beau’s who inspired nearly every track. Swift even helps her fans find out who the songs are about by hiding messages into the lyrics page of her CD (listed at bottom). Fair Warning: Many, many of these songs are about Jake Gyllenhaal.

“We Are Never Ever Ever Getting Back Together”: This song is all about an ex-boyfriend who would dump Swift and then want her back. Swift practically admitted Jake Gyllenhaal’s inspiration in the upbeat tune in a recent interview with Katie Couric. Couric told her that fans thought the song was about Gyllenhaal, to which she replied, “I didn’t know that that was a thing that people had figured out.” Considering this information, we can assume that the ex-boyfriend wanting her back in “I almost do” is Gyllenhaal as well.

“All Too Well”: This song tells the story of her breakup with Jake Gyllenhaal. In the song, she goes through memory lane; referencing her Thanksgiving she spent at his sister Maggie’s home and the glasses he wore as a little boy. If that’s not evidence enough, Swift and Gyllenhaal were both seen wearing the same scarf on different occasions, which fits perfectly with the lyrics, “You keep my old scarf from that very first week, cause it reminds you of innocence and it smells like me. You can’t get rid of it.”

“Everything has Changed”: This song is about Swift’s summer romance with Conor Kennedy. In her song she describes his appearance, “All I’ve seen since 18 hours ago is green eyes and freckles.” Furthermore, she encoded the words “Hyannis Port,” where Swift and Kennedy were often seen, in this song on her CD.

“Red”: The title track goes through all the emotions of a past relationship; from the “red” beginning to the “dark grey” ending. Her hint for the song is “SAG.” This song is widely believed to be about Jake Gyllenhaal considering he’s a Sagittarius (which she alludes to in “State of Grace”).

“State of Grace”: In this love song, Swift says “up in your room and our slates are clean, just twin fire signs, four blue eyes.” Guess which of Tay Swift’s ex-boyfriends is both a Sagittarius (the fire sign) and has blue eyes? Jake Gyllenhaal.

Below are all of the encoded lyrics to each of Swift’s “Red” album songs. Some are obvious as to whom the song’s about, while other songs are vague.

1) “State of Grace”: LOVE DOESNT COUNT AFTER GOODBYE

2) “Red”: SAG

3) “Treacherous”: WONT STOP TILL ITS OVER

4) “I Knew You Were Trouble”: WHEN YOU SAW ME DANCING

5) “All too Well”: MAPLE LATTES

6) “22”: ASHLEY DIANNA CLAIRE SELENA

7) “I Almost Do”: WROTE THIS INSTEAD OF CALLING

8) “We are Never Ever Getting Back Together”: WHEN I STOPPED CARING WHAT YOU THOUGHT

13) “The Lucky One”: WOULDN’T YOU LIKE TO KNOW

14) “Everything has Changed”: HYANNIS PORT

So, with these extra hints, who do you think the rest of the songs are about?
