Men in Black Three was released May 25th. The third installment of the Men in Black Trilogy, this movie provided viewers an interesting look into a “fictional” government agency dealing with alien life-forms throughout the universe.
Directed by Barry Sonenfeld, in this installment of the trilogy, Agent Jay (played by Will Smith) must travel back to the year 1969 in order to rescue his fallen comrade, Agent Kay (played by both Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin). Other notable actors include Jemaine Clement, Emma Thompson, and Michael Stuhlbarg.
The movie begins in a lunar containment facility where an alien by the name of Boris the Animal escapes after forty some-odd years of containment. This alien returns to earth on a quest for revenge against the agent (Tommy Lee Jones) who put him away in 1969. After traveling back in time, the alien kills Agent Kay. Only the character played by Will Smith remembers he was ever alive. Smith must now travel back in time in order to stop this alien life form before it’s too late.
Now, I understand that this description may seem like the cliche movie about aliens and secret agents, but this is not the case. I highly recommend this movie to any student looking for a good flick. Without giving away too much, I’ll just say there’s a twist ending that may catch the average moviegoer by surprise.
This trilogy is not one in which you must have seen the first two in order to enjoy the third. Men in Black Three explains the story line very well and effectively reaches a wide variety of viewers. Although the movie is rated PG13, I’m pretty sure teenagers can handle it. So, Men in Black Three is a resounding yes from me. Now go out and see the movie for yourself, who knows, maybe you’ll even be able to guess this twist ending that caught the rest of us by surprise.
