Carlsbad farmer’s market
March 21, 2017
Every Wednesday from 3-7 p.m., the city of Carlsbad hosts the farmer’s market on State Street. Downtown Carlsbad Village, friends and family can find an assortment of vendors.
The city hosts a total of 18 produce vendors that offer fresh, organic fruits and vegetables. The 25 packaged specialty food vendors sell everything from fresh jams to cheesecake cups. Six prepared/cooked food vendors provide fresh meals inspired by multiple destination favorites including New York and Greece. Two to four crafters sell their personalized jewelry and art to shoppers.
“I really enjoy being able to have something to do every week and try new foods,” local shopper Alexander Price said. “They have such a variety of foods and little trinkets that make the experience unique.”
One can find this assortment of produce, crafts and live entertainment every week on State Street between Carlsbad Village Drive and Grand Avenue.
“What I really love about the Carlsbad farmer’s market is that it is small, which makes it more welcoming, unique and friendly to me,” Price said. “It gives a unique vibe to Carlsbad Village.”
This experience can be a one-time event, but it could also become a favorite activity or tradition with friends and family.
“My family and I made it tradition to go to the farmer’s market at least once a month,” a local said. “We just love the environment and the time spent together in the village.”
Even tourists visiting from different locations enjoyed this local experience.
“We didn’t plan on going to a farmer’s market,” tourist Amani Alhindi said. “In Carlsbad, we planned to just go to the beach a lot and try new food places, but I’m glad we went. It made our vacation more memorable because we got to talk and interact with the locals.”
So, next time you have a free Wednesday or are looking for a fun thing to do close to home, head out to the Carlsbad farmer’s market.
