Time to start crossing off 2015 when you meant to write 2016 on everything.
After you’ve listened to our 2015 Recap Part 1, it’s time to take a look at the rest of last year.
There were many new things that took everyone by surprise, but there also were reincarnations of things that we hadn’t heard from in a while. The latter occurred especially in the record-breaking release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, while the former came up in such landmark decisions as the Supreme Court’s ruling on Marriage Equality. Science was also a big part of the latter months of 2015, as NASA found evidence of water on Mars, and the Blood Moon had everyone staring at the sky.
Unfortunately, while there were many positive events in these months, the world was shocked when an attack on Paris brought back horrid memories of the terrorist act in September of 2001. While the attack was a huge tragedy, it also brought together people from all over the world in support of the Parisians. In addition, the issue of gun control was again brought to light when the attack in San Bernardino occurred. Both tragedies remind us of the ever present threats that seem impossible to escape.
On the other hand, in December, we were all able to end the year on a positive note. Steve Harvey’s mistake at the Miss Universe competition had many people laughing and smiling, and inspired the creation of a multitude of memes and jokes.
2015, overall, had a variety of ups and downs. As a society, we can learn many things from the events that occurred and hope to make 2016 the best year of our lives.
