What year is this? A future line-up of Star Wars VII, Jurassic World and Terminator: Genisys? Some of these famous movies have not been seen together since the late 80’s.

These franchises have been picked up by new directors and screenwriters of our time to bring their own view and creativity to the table. Trying to reinvent these classic movies, while also attempting to stay true to the original visions of the old ones. These movies are classics and should be respected as such, but can they just be rebooted?

“I fear the worst for these movies,” junior and movie-goer Jacob Rozansky said. “It is not that I do not trust them, I just do not think that they can so easily recreate these masterpieces. They were stunning and cutting-edge projects of their time, which led to these films to be a cultural franchise. I have never met anyone who has not seen Star Wars, but the recreations are not the same. Even some of these old franchises, run by the old directors, made mistakes. Jurassic Park 2 would be a perfect example: A dinosaur in New York was a terrible idea. And even the last 3 Star Wars were not among people’s favorites. I am afraid they will just be poor sequels.”

However, a lot of time has passed and people are demanding these movies. Viewers want to see them and compared to the past, people will flock to the theaters because they will be curious if the directors did it justice or not.

“Even some of these old franchises, run by the old directors, made mistakes,” Rozansky said.  “Jurassic Park 2 would be a perfect example: A dinosaur in New York was a terrible idea. And even the last 3 Star Wars were not among people’s favorites. I am afraid they will just be poor sequels.”

The new trailers show promise to great visuals and aesthetically please the audience, besides the cross-guard on the light-saber. The teasers were just a taste of what is yet to come.

“Only one of a few, I enjoyed the new cross-guard and everything about the trailer was incredible,” senior Grant Kirkpatrick said. “I am beyond excited for the new movies because I want to hear a continuation of all the stories and the worlds created. I understand that people are afraid, but these directors are trying their best; fans are depending on them. They have a lot of pressure to create great films. I believe they will not disappoint. And besides, who doesn’t want to see another Jurassic Park?.”

Jurassic World and Terminator Genisys show this summer and Star Wars releases the following December. This next year, 2015, will be the “return of the ‘old franchises.”
