Calling all upperclassmen for the last spirit week of the year. Due to popular demand from seniors wanting one last week to dress up, the week of prom May 13th-17th is Spring Spirit Week.
As the school year comes to an end, seniors are starting to feel the nostalgia of leaving high school forever. Prom symbolizes an end of the year event that both juniors and seniors have the opportunity to celebrate. ASB thought, what better than to have one more week of dressing up to finish the year with a bang?
“I think there has been more school spirit this year than I’ve seen any other year,” ASB president Jackie Eghtesadi said.
With all this bursting school spirit, students even had ideas of their own for what the themes would be for each day. Monday is class colors day: seniors wear white and juniors wear purple. Tuesday is college wear day: all the seniors get to represent their future school. Wednesday is generation day: seniors are senior citizens and juniors are working adults.
“For generation day it means seniors get to dress up in old people clothes and juniors can dress up in things like suits or fancy business attire,” Eghtesadi said.
In preparation for prom, Thursday and Friday both go with the prom theme. Thursday is 1920’s day and Friday is match your prom date day. For the 1920’s theme it means girls should wear flapper style dresses such as low waisted dresses with fullness below that, and guys grab your trousers and a bow tie.
“I got a lot of ideas on what everyone wanted to do, and we just tried to get a good mix of all of them to make everyone enjoy it,” Eghtesadi said.
This is the last chance to show your school spirit for the year. Unfortunately, this week is for upperclassmen only, but they still have plenty of time to dress up in the years to come. Hopefully carrying on the spirit that began this year.
