It’s that time of year again. The choir department is putting on its annual Night with the Stars concert. The two-day concert began this Thursday night with crowd-pleasing performances.
The concert features both varsity choirs, Chamber Singers and Sound Express, as well as many solos and small group acts. On Thursday night, the Valley Middle School Showstoppers performed their Beatles-inspired set and the choir from Calavera Hills Middle School also performed. On Friday night, the all-girls choir, Encore, will perform.
“People can expect a variety of different songs, including songs with just singing, songs with singing and dancing, and a lot of solo performances and group performances,” senior Kara Sturiale said.
Though the performers love being on stage, it’s not easy to put together such an entertaining show. During the weeks leading up to the concert, choirs rehearse tirelessly in class and after school to perfect their songs.
“The week of the concert is exciting because we get to show people what we’ve been doing in choir but stressful because there are a lot of details involved in making our show the best it can be,” Sturiale said.
Night with the Stars is a unique concert because students are able to showcase their talents on a greater scale. In this show, many students perform solos or in small groups.
“I perform a duet with Karlie Carbone to the song, Wide Open Spaces by the Dixie Chicks”, Sturiale said.
Sound Express, who is in the midst of competition season, debuted its set for friends and family for the first time on the first night of the concert. With its next competition on March 16th, Sound Express is ready to take the stage again.
“Our competition season is going great”, Sturiale said. “We are improving each time we compete; at our last competition, we won first place.”
The final show of Night with the Stars is tonight at 7 p.m. in the CAC. The choir department is eager to entertain the crowd and showcase its hard work.

This article discusses a lot about Sound Express, but not a lot about Chamber Singers. Maybe next time you could discuss more about the other choir.
