Carlsbad High senior Josiah Villagomez runs for the varsity track and field team. He has been running track for seven years, with three of those years spent on CHS’s varsity team.

“One of my greatest accomplishments include winning sprinter of the year for my sophomore and freshman season,” Villagomez said.

His greatest motivation to run track comes from his desire to get points for the team to win each meet, with the team goal of being the best team in the Avocado West League.

“The only thing that separates every person on the track team is like how hard everyone works,” Villagomez said. “It depends on the kind of person you are. I think I work extra, I run on the weekends, so that is just what I think.”

Villagomez plans on running track at the collegiate level if he receives a scholarship, or continue his track career in college for fun.
