Dionne Macias

Senior Dionne Macias plays softball at Carlsbad High with three years on the varsity team. Her passion and love for the game plays a major role in her success as an athlete.

“Becoming a better player overall is an accomplishment and playing with the support of different coaches is a big asset,” Macias said.

Dionne comes from a family with a long history of playing softball. Since many of her family members played, she had the the motivation to continue the legacy.

“My whole family plays actually,” Macias said. “They are all involved in softball or baseball. My mom played, my grandma played and my dad ended up playing professionally. It is just a big thing for us.”

Macias plans to continue her softball career into college. Although not completely certain on where she will end up playing, she knows it is something that will happen. Schools that have offered her to play include Rhode Island University, Mississippi Valley University and Doane College in Nebraska.

“I do have some offers,” Macias said. “I just don’t know where I want to go quite yet.”
