Some tasty holiday cookies and treats to get you into the holiday spirit.

1. Sugar Cookies

Whether you’re expertly icing cookies to look exactly like Santa or just dumping the frosting wherever it wants to go, making sugar cookies with your family is always a fun thing to do around the holidays; especially when you have strangely shaped cookie cutters.

2. Brownies

You can’t go wrong with brownies. There’s not much that can beat sitting by a crackling fire and eating chocolatey, gooey, fudgy brownies. M&M’s or extra chocolate chips are also a great addition if you want to mix it up a little.

3. Cookies for Santa

Making cookies for Santa (or cookies for you, depending on how many you eat while making them) is a great way to get into the Christmas spirit. Leaving them out with a cold glass of milk will probably guarantee you getting the best presents!

4. Rocky Road

This extra-gooey, marshmallow-y, chocolatey delight will definitely satisfy your sugar cravings that you’ve had since December 1st. Forget the diet – Rocky Road is taking over.

5. Gingerbread Cookies (or houses)

Whether you’re decorating a gingerbread man or constructing an elaborate gingerbread palace, this crafty dessert will definitely prepare you for decorating your real house for Christmas.

6. Cheesecake

It might not be on everyone’s Christmas dessert list, but it’s definitely up there. Enjoying a piece of chocolate cheesecake while talking with the family is one of the best parts of the holidays.

7. Fruitcake

On the contrary to a popular opinion, fruitcake can actually be pretty good. It’s more of a healthy twist to the holidays, so maybe that’s why some people tend to add icing or chocolate chips.

8. Candy Canes

The colors red and white can be seen everywhere, but they look best on candy canes. It doesn’t matter if you’re using them as comfort food or stringing them around your Christmas tree – candy canes are a striped sweet to brighten up the holidays.

9. Pies

There are so many delicious kinds of pie, this list would probably go on forever if all of them were mentioned. But pies in general – like apple, blueberry, pumpkin, etc. –  are great ways to top off the Christmas meal.

10. Peppermint Bark

Don’t worry, it’s not real bark – this is much more tasty than bark off a tree. Pieces of dark/milk chocolate, peppermint, and whatever else you want to add makes this a dessert to look forward to around Christmas time.
