The movie, “Sierra Burgess is a Loser,” is a part of the Netflix Original series and people cannot stop talking about it. It contains many popular actors such as Shannon Purser, who takes the lead as Sierra Burgess and be seen in the popular series “Stranger Things.” Noah Centineo plays Jamey and has pursued his acting career being featured in Disney Channel shows and movies. The movie is initially about Burgess, a high schooler, who typically does not fit in as well as other girls as ventures out of her comfort zone she realizes that people aren’t always what they seem to be.
Burgess is a typical high school girl. She loves hanging out with friends and watching movies, except for the fact that that she is constantly getting bullied for her weight. However, what many people don’t realize is that she is just like any other ordinary high school student. One day while Burgess is home, she receives a mysterious text from a boy. Hungry for the attention, Burgess decides to text back. She thought to herself, “what could go wrong?”. As Burgess kept texting, she realized the boy texting her thought she was her bully, Veronica (Kristene Froseth). Veronica was captain of the cheer team and absolutely despised Burgess constantly making her life miserable. However, this did not stop Burgess from texting; she formed a plan to keep the mystery going. One day while Burgess witnessed Veronica upset, she approached her with a plan to keep her mystery texter. As the movie goes on, the audience will start to witness the once self-conscious girl stand up for herself while making friends she would have never thought to have. It doesn’t end here. Eventually, the story will have a twist that leaves the viewers on the edge of their seat.
Burgess and the other characters throughout the story realize that getting to know someone before judging them always comes first. The story concluded that many characters are not who they portrayed themselves as. From watching this heartfelt movie taught people to never judge others by their looks because almost always people aren’t who they appear to be. This movie portrays a great message of how people can show a little kindness to be a better person including multiple characters who are very relatable and easy to connect with. The characters in the movie also learned to treat everyone equally because you never know who will be a loyal friend in the end. Because of the surprises and message of the story, this is a movie worth watching.
