Jamie Fontaine: Art Teacher
Ms. Fontaine is the Art 1 teacher at CHS, which is a course that gives students the opportunity to explore their creativity. Before she started teaching at CHS last year, she was an elementary school teacher.
LL: Why did you decide to become an art teacher?
JF: I’ve been wanting to teach art since I was in high school, so I just always knew I was going to teach art.
LL: What are your favorite things about teaching art?
JF: Well, the students – seeing how creative they are. My favorite thing about teaching art is giving everyone sort of the same objective, or the same goal, and everyone makes something so different… they make the assignment, but everyone’s is so different and unique.
LL: How long have you been teaching in general, and how long have you been teaching at CHS?
JF: This is my second year here, and I’ve been teaching art for a long time – 10 or 11 years.
LL: How have you felt about teaching at CHS so far?
JF: I love teaching here. So far, I’ve been really excited about teaching high school. I’ve taught elementary before, so the biggest difference is just the age group – I really like teaching high school. I think the kids are funny and they’re exciting to be around.
