Tatum Bernat
Senior Tatum Bernat runs as a sprinter for the varsity track and field team. She overcomes obstacles by working hard and staying focused. She has been on the team since her freshman year.
“I run the 100, 200, the 4×100 relay and the 4×400 relay,” Bernat said. “Probably the biggest accomplishment throughout my track career has been going to state with the 4×400 teams during my freshman and sophomore year.”
Bernat has always gotten her motivation to run from watching her older peers, but now that she is a senior she has to lead people herself and set an example, so she gets motivation from to become that inspiration for younger runners.
“I really try and listen to the coach, I don’t really like to talk during practice because first of all, I can’t breathe and, second of all, I just want to make sure the coaches are respected,” Bernat said.
Bernat suffered an injury last season so she had to dedicate her time to physical therapy and her recovery. Now, she is ready for the her last season.
“I went to the gym to try and build strength in areas that I knew how to,” Bernat said.
