Senior Emma Holdaway has been a prominent member of the girl’s lacrosse program for four years now. This is her third year as a varsity starting attacker and continues her legacy as one of the team captains. She plans to attend Brigham Young University in the fall and is still debating if she wants to continue her lacrosse career in college. Here’s some exclusive insight from her.

Lancer Link: How did you get into lacrosse?

Emma Holdaway: Well, I just started playing my freshman year, and after having played soccer and stuff it just kind of was an easy sport to transition to because there are many similarities between the two. I played, ran around, my coaches taught me everything I need to know, and I just got better from there.

LL: How many years have you been playing?

EH: This is my fourth year playing, third year on varsity.

LL: What has been your favorite lacrosse memory?

EH: My favorite lacrosse memory was from sophomore winning our CIF quarterfinal game, on our turf, against Mount Carmel in double over-time. It was really exciting.

LL: What lessons have you learned from playing lacrosse?

EH: I have really learned that it is really important to move on from your mistakes and not let them get you down. It is really important to just keep going, otherwise it’ll keep getting worse, so put it behind you and stay moving forward.

LL: Do you have any pre-game rituals?

EH: You know what, I don’t. Well, we do our little stick clicks. Me and Mandie have a special one that we do every time and me and Mackenzie have a special one that we like to do.

LL: Do you have any pump-up songs or playlists?

EH: Yeah my teammate, Rylee, made a really good pump-up playlist that’s really fun.

LL: Do you have any advice for the younger players?

EH: My advice would be to just believe in yourself and your stick skills, and play wall ball.
