Lancer Link: How did you get into track?

Tyler Dresser:  Freshman year I decided to join the team and I mainly ran long distance events like the one mile and two mile. I didn’t feel like track was for me so I quit sophomore year. Then I realized how much I missed running so I came back junior year decided to try sprinting and knew this is what I wanted to do.

LL: What sacrifices have you made for track?

TD: Well I’m not really able to have a job during season because of after school practices and also we have track meets on Saturdays too, so that doesn’t allow me too much free time. Also homework can build up sometimes when I have a meet during the week.

LL: Why do you enjoy running track?

TD: I really like the feeling of being fit and in shape. I love knowing that I am able to run for long distances and periods of time.

LL: What motivates you to continue to continue running?

TD: Well my times keep improving, I’m setting a new personal record almost every time in each event. I’m pretty competitive as well, I like facing new competition in all my meets.

LL: What advice do you have for younger runners?

TD: Make sure you are completely committed to the sport. When it gets difficult, do not get down on yourself. Keep your head up and remember to have fun with it all. Just block out the pain and focus on getting better.
