Senior Stetson Galloway has been wrestling with the high school since the eighth grade. He has been on varsity since his freshman year and was inspired by his sixth grade PE teacher. LL interviewed Stetson to hear all about his experiences being on the wrestling team.
Lancer Link: What got you into this sport?
Stetson Galloway: My sixth grade PE teacher. In class we had a little course and he said I was really good so I went from there.
LL: What do you feel your biggest accomplishments have been while you have been on varsity?
SG: I got second at Freshman County, won the Frosh SoCal, and last year I placed fourth at CIF.
LL: How did that feel placing in all of those?
SG: It felt really great, like all of the hard work I had done paid off.
LL: Did you have any previous wrestling experience before high school?
SG: Other than my sixth grade PE class, I did a season in middle school, and during my eighth grade year I got to be with the high school team. I didn’t get to compete until my freshman year though.
LL: How do you like the new wrestling gym?
SG: It’s a lot bigger so we have more room to move around and it’s a lot more well lit. Everything about it is really great.
LL: Do you think it is going to help the team improve?
SG: Definitely! It’s like a college room so the mentality is a lot more motivating than our last gym.
