Swift speaks now, loud and proud, on new album

Taylor Swift has done it again! With all three of her CDs  going platinum, she is one of the most accomplished young adult singers. Her new album, “Speak Now” features fourteen secret-revealing songs about her life story. Leave it to Swift to have the teenage heart, laced with lyrics, which every girl can easily relate to.

The opener, “Mine,” paints Swift’s perfect future. She acknowledges, love is hard but hopes to find the one who can love her despite imperfections along the road of a relationship.

“Sparks Fly,” has the love at first sight feel, where a connection between two strangers discover that spark.

“Back to December” revels Swift’s apology to Taylor Lautner, former boyfriend, with hints such as “I miss your tan skin” and “So this is me swallowing my pride/Standing in front of you saying I’m sorry for that night.”

“Dear John” is also about an ex-boyfriend, John Mayer. This song really puts down Mayer and exposes his bad reputation of breaking young hearts. Many haters do not pity Swift’s heart because they believe she uses boys to get song ideas. However, the lyrics are so emotional anyone could tell she truly was hurt.

Her sixth track, “Mean,” shares Swift’s true country colors with the traditional country bouncy banjo beat. Many fans feel differently about this hill billy side of Swift but this connects her back to her western roots as a country singer.

In opposition, “The Story of Us,” features Swift’s unused electric guitar. but the song lacks the country despite its attempt to introduce something different.

“In Better Than Revenge,” lyrics “She’s an actress/Whoa/She’s better known for the things that she does/On the mattress/ Whoa” were intended for a wider range of listeners because they have PG13 connotations. Swift shows her darker side trashing a girlfriend of her ex-boyfriend, Joe Jonas. Although Swift is older she acts immature stooping down a level.

“Innocent,” released at the 2010 VMA’s follows up Swift’s unexpected experience with Kanye West interrupting her acceptance speech.

“Last Kiss” touches the hearts of those who miss a special someone they have lost in their life.

To wrap up the CD, “Long Live,” shines the path on Swift’s bright future and positive attitude.

Partnering with Target, Swift also released three extra songs as a deluxe CD. Swift lyrics are the comfort for the heartbroken and the storyboard for young romantics.  Avid listeners will be counting down the days until the brilliant young adult singer releases more of her masterpiece songs.
