Jessica Streich is a senior at Carlsbad High School and a photographer for the Lancer Link. She enjoys dance and theatre, and is constantly involved in onstage productions. Next year she wants to begin her college career in Communications and is so excited for making memories during her last year in Carlsbad.

Sophomore Madison Nelson earned the coveted Best of Show award for her piece and proves a promising student for the art department.

The Poinsettia Fire, which began at approximately 10:30 a.m., killed one person and destroyed or significantly damaged eight homes, an 18-unit apartment complex and two commercial buildings as it burned 600 acres throughout Carlsbad.

The group ended the night with third place out of about 40 scenes, and Carlsbad placed a record high in recent years by placing 4th overall as a school among 50 competitors.

On Feb. 12, Carlsbad suffered a tragic loss with the death of Vinnie Zellefrow in a fatal hit-and-run accident on Pacific Coast Highway. The driver was a 17-year-old Carlsbad girl who was arrested later that evening. A memorial at the crash site commemorates Zellefrows life as a lively Carlsbad graduate, decorated with notes and momentos from loved ones.

iTunes Radio has been added to the iPhones music, and similar to Pandora and other personalized radio websites, it allows users to listen to music not in their library, but similar to their interests. From these stations you can easily save and purchase songs that you hear, as well as save stations you want to listen to again.

Notification center also received a fresh look by again incorporating the translucent effect. You can access all your notifications or just the ones you missed, as well as easily view your calendar events and reminders for that day.

Deep in the costume lab of Carlsbads theatre department, Jalissa pulls pieces for actors in the fall play On the Razzle which premiers mid-November. Jalissa heads the costume crew which means several times a week to work on creating the Viennese style pieces for the show.
