The Foundation for an Educated Athlete in conjunction with the San Diego Section of the CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) present “The Realities of College Recruiting” , an informative workshop on the college athletic recruiting process Monday, February 23 on the CHS campus. There will be a fundraising BBQ meal in the Quad from 6:00-7:00 p.m. followed by the free workshop in the Arena from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Topics to be covered include a step by step guide to the college recruiting process, what colleges look for, the importance of academics in the recruiting process, the importance and pitfalls of social media, and important information on scholarships and funding for college.

Plan to attend the Criminal Justice and Social Science Career Panel hosted by Sage Creek High School PTSA in the Bobcat Arena (gym) at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 24. The panel features an FBI agent, the Carlsbad Chief of Police, a judge, and a forensic psychologist. This is a great opportunity for Carlsbad students and their families who may be considering a career in any of these industries, or who simply want to find out more about these potential career paths.

Enjoy an evening out and support CHS PTSA! This year’s Gala will be held Saturday, March 7, 6:00-11:00 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn, 6450 Carlsbad Boulevard, Carlsbad. Tickets include a buffet dinner and playing money for casino games. There will also be silent and live auctions featuring items from many CHS Booster Clubs. Our District is pleased to announce a Facebook Online Safety Seminar for parents on Thursday, March 26th at 6:30 pm. CUSD is partnering with Facebook, Senator Patricia Bates, the San Diego County District Attorney's Office, and the Carlsbad Police Department to bring this event to our community. The event will include a panel discussion around cyber-safety in which experts will share ways to keep our children safe in a "social media" world. Superintendent Lovely will be a part of this panel discussion and encourages CUSD parents to attend. The event will be at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort and Spa.
